Your child’s teacher is available to answer questions about your child’s progress and what they are learning in class.  Be sure to attend conferences, contact your child’s teacher via email, notes, and/or phone calls. Attend school events (i.e., Open House, Parent Math Night, etc.), as well. Review any work that comes home (corrected papers, classwork or homework) to see what your child is working on in class.
When talking with your child’s teacher:

Ask questions like:
  • Where is my child excelling? How can I support this success?
  • What do you think is giving my child the most trouble? How can I help my child improve in this area?
  • What can I do to help my child with upcoming work?

Remember to:
  • Keep the lines of communication open.
  • Check your child’s agenda nightly.
  • Email or call the teacher when you have questions or concerns.
